Delaware INBRE is soliciting applications for funding to support professional development workshops and seminars. To be eligible, the workshop/seminar must be for graduate students or postdoctoral/clinical fellows working on problems relevant to biomedical research, the life sciences, or human health disciplines. Faculty members, students or other groups, departments, or organizations can apply for this funding. You do not need to be officially affiliated with INBRE to apply.

The topics to be covered are open. Some possibilities are: networking events, career workshops, CV/resume preparation, how to conduct a job search, effective grant writing, finding support for your Ph.D., entrepreneurship for scientists, navigating graduate school efficiently, presentation/communication skills, etc.

The maximum award for a funded project is $3000.  All INBRE funds must be expended by April 30, 2024. Allowable costs include: speaker fees, travel for the speaker, cost of recording the event, advertising costs, and venue rental.  Note that food, drink, parking and gift cards for participants are not allowable costs and thus must be covered by other funding sources. If there are any changes while planning the event to what you itemized in your budget for the award to cover,  please contact the INBRE office (info@de-inbre.org) before committing to see if it is an allowable expense.

For full consideration, applications should be received by the INBRE office by November 1st. Any questions can be directed to Lisa Jaremka, PhD, Director of Education and Professional Development for Delaware INBRE (ljaremka@udel.edu).
